Description
I was reading The Valley of Horses by Jean Auel (lovely book in a series about primitive life) and while reading about Ayla's years alone in her valley fending for herself, I was inspired to make something by hand with stone tools.
I picked up this neat little triangular stone while scouting fishing spots earlier this year, and decided to make an oil lamp from it. I simply took a large and pointed chunk of chert from the box of knapping supplies on my porch and started chipping away. An hour and a half later I had this.
The fuel I am using is a blend of animal fat and beeswax I use for more purposes than I care to list, and the wick is dried plant fiber. It now lives on my altar and I love it.

this is very cool. There's a lot of limestone around here that I could use to give this a try.
